Late work policy
It is important that you are in class and keeping up with the work. If you have had an excused absence that has been cleared with the attendance office, you need to come and see me at lunch or after school to get the work you missed. You may also want to email me. You have one week from the date you were absent to contact me.
In general, there will be a due date for all assignments. If you miss the due date, you may turn it in late for a penalty on your participation grade for up to one week from the due date. I will take some assignments after this period, but you must come in and talk to me and make arrangements. This is not for all assignments. Assignments that require class participation and time sensitive assignments (novel questions, for example) cannot be made up.
VERY IMPORTANT!
YOU WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO MEET CERTAIN EXIT CRITERIA BY THE END OF EACH SEMESTER BEYOND YOUR PASSING GRADE.
FRESHMEN:
*FIRST SEMESTER-NARRATIVE WRITING SAMPLE PASSING IN THE CATEGORIES OF IDEAS, ORGANIZATION, AND SENTENCE FLUENCY, KNOWLEDGE OF NOVEL WORK(LIT CIRCLE OR WHOLE CLASS) WITH MOST ASSIGNMENTS IN AND COMPLETE, AND A GRADE OF C OR BETTER ON THE COMPREHENSIVE FINAL EXAM.
*SECOND SEMESTER-A POEM THAT YOU WRITE AND RECITE, A GRADE OF C OR BETTER ON ROMEO AND JULIET FINAL PAPER OR PROJECT, A GRADE OF C OR BETTER ON THE WRITING PORTFOLIO PROJECT AT THE END OF THE YEAR.
